This is our version of the "4-knot" halter, with an addition on the crown. What makes the Knotty Halter unique and superior to other, "top-name trainer" versions (besides their inflated pricing) are the 2 Spanish Ring Knots on the nose. These knots come in a variety of trim colors, and are EASILY adjustable, or they can be slid all the way down to the joint on the noseband if not needed. The crown tie strings on this version have 2 extra adjustable Spanish Ring Knots on the crown to deter the horse that sets back when tied, and the ends are finished with the same trim color as the ring knots. Best of all, there is NO HARDWARE to break!
This halter is made with 20 continuous feet of 5/16" double braided Polypropylene over Nylon rope that is specifically designed for tying halters. It is made to be stiff and have minimal stretch - NOT your mamby-pamby climbing rope that stretches that others use to make CHEAP halters. It is rot and mildew resistant, and has a test break strength of 1400 lbs. It is hand made with a genuine Fiador knot on the chin, and double overhand, or "blood knots" on the joints to elimintate twisting. The rope is a 5/8" MFP double braided marine grade rope that offers a soft, live feel with lots of energy. The ends are professionally spliced with the eye sewn for reinforcement, and finished at the weighted working tip with a latigo leather popper. Spanish Ring Knots are added to the ends to match your halter for NO EXTRA CHARGE! Solid Brass Bolt Snaps sold separately in the "Hardware" section.
People have often said that they would use one of the tie rings on their trailer at events for their horse, but do not want the paint on their trailer to become scratched or damaged by the hardware. That is why we have taken the decorative cording we use on our other products to cushion the ring and shackle that comes in the package. The tie ring is still fully functional for all three tying stages, yet in the course of eating hay or “seeing the sights” at a horse event, the cord cushion on the ring will not scratch, dent or damage the paint on your rig, or whatever you attach the ring to. The entire package comes with tie ring and shackle bound with decorative cord, plus an eye bolt for mounting, as well as detailed instructions for the tying stages. Remember, this is a support system and training tool, not a restraint system.
